Everyone is eagerly waiting for Netflix to reveal when we can expect to see season 4 of Stranger Things.

While we sit and twiddle our thumbs on that news, we've been given our biggest indication yet that season four is going to be incredible.

Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin Henderson in the epic sci-fi Netflix TV show, reckons the upcoming season will be the series' scariest yet.

Speaking to Us Weekly, the child star said: "Yikes. I think most would probably say it's the scariest [season] out of the previous three, which I love because it's very fun to film."

While he admits it's pretty intense filming all those dark and spine-tingling scenes, the actor says there's a really fun atmosphere on set at the moment.

He continued: "We don't have to try too hard. We like each other, which is always a plus.

"As well as having a lot of the heavy, dark stuff in the show, it's surrounded by a lot of lightheartedness [and] a good amount of comedy. We usually have a fun time on set."

Pictures from the filming for season four leaked in October last year and showed the epic cast getting stuck into their new scenes.

Filming had already begun before production was shut down back in March due to the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. It resumed in October with Nancy Wheeler - played by Natalia Dyer - Max (Sadie Sink) and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) previously spotted on set.

The latest pictures showed characters Max and Dustin joined by Steve (Joe Keery) and Robin (Maya Hawke) as they hang out in a video store together. It's the first time we've had a glimpse of the gang back together.

Cast members were seen in shots leaving the video store, and were spotted circling the road on their bikes - although the duo seemed to be pretty glum. Over what we can only speculate although perhaps the absence of Will Byers and Eleven could play a part.

Robin was also seen storming out of a store and seemed similarly unhappy, wearing high waisted trousers, a plaid shirt, tie and converse.

So what else do we know about Stranger Things Season 4? Not too much yet, although the show's official writers' room have just revealed two episode titles: episode two will be called 'Tick Tok, Mr Clock' and episode three is titled 'You Snooze, You Lose' in what is clearly a reference to time running out.

We already knew too that episode one was to be called 'The Hellfire Club', with the gang posting a picture of the script cover.

Elsewhere, apparently four new characters will be coming to Hawkins, thought to be connected to Jim Hopper (played by David Harbour.)

We know from the first season four trailer released in February that Hopper is alive, but being held captive by Russians, alongside a Demogorgan - just who you want as a next-door neighbour.
