Justin Bieber Says He Suffered An 'Emotional Breakdown' After Marrying Hailey Baldwin

The singer made a candid admission about his mental health and said the moment was a serious wake-up call.

Justin Bieber has made a candid admission about his mental health and admitted he had an 'emotional breakdown' shortly after marrying model Hailey Baldwin.

Speaking with Apple Music's Ebro Darden, Bieber said married life wasn't what he thought it was going to be.

"It's a journey. I remember when I first got married, I hit a little bit of an emotional breakdown because I thought marriage was going to fix all my problems and it didn't," Bieber said, according to People.

He told the radio host he came to the harsh realisation that he was 'a bit of a hypocrite'.

"You want your wife to do something that you're not doing and it's like, it's hard sometimes to look in the mirror and really have to realise, man, maybe you're not the person that you necessarily thought that you were."

Bieber revealed his ultimate saviour was not his wife, but actually Jesus.

"Just the idea that I'm forgiven and that he's walking me through this journey and day by day, I get to just get better and better and not be too hard on myself," he said.

Despite the duo's faith in the Big Man Upstairs, the couple has experienced their highs and lows in their four years of marriage.

In 2021, Baldwin sat down with Christian podcast In Good Faith with Chelsea & Judah Smith to discuss her marriage woes with the'Love Yourself' singer.

"I remember I called [my mother] a few different times, one particular time when we were in Brooklyn and I was calling her, I was crying, and I was like, 'I just can't do it. There's no way that I'm going to be able to do this if it's going to be like this forever,'" Baldwin said.

"And I just remember she was so calm on the phone and she was like, 'It's going to pass, and you're going to be fine and he's going to be healthy and we're here for you.'"

Baldwin told Chelsea and Judah Smith that she was glad she stuck by Bieber during his breakdown.

"I was in it. I made a decision. I know for a fact that I've loved this person for a very long time and now would not be the time to give up on him. I just wouldn't do that to him," she said.

"Imagine abandoning somebody in the middle of the worst time of their life, potentially. I'm not that type of a person. So I was going to stick it out no matter what the outcome was going to be."
