A Marvel writer has revealed a Daredevil reboot might be in the works.

David Hayter, who has worked with the likes of X-Men and Watchmen, explained during a recent convention in the UK that the Marvel engine wants to revive the story of Matt Murdock.

He told Small Screen at MCM Comic Con: "They're doing a reboot of Daredevil, and Daredevil was always a very important character to me.

"I loved the first way they did it, but there's certain things that I would want to adapt from the Frank Miller run on Daredevil that really meant a lot to me. That's really the one."

It's unclear whether Hayter means they are bringing back Cox's character for another TV show or a movie.

Netflix/Marvel

The film starring Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner received mixed reviews and, according to ComicBook.com, there were plans for a trilogy before the rights to the character were snatched back by Disney.

The TV show, which had Charlie Cox in the lead role, was praised and beloved all over the world.

Fans were devastated when Netflix revealed no more seasons would be made, which happened around the same time as cuts to The Punisher, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and other titles.

Now it appears these diehard supporters will finally get their wish.

There hasn't been anything confirmed by Marvel just yet but Charlie Cox recently opened up about whether he would want to step back in the superhero suit.

During an interview with The Pop Culture Spotlight on SiriusXM the actor appeared to be a bit apprehensive about a reboot or a revival.

He told the radio host: "You've got to be careful what you wish for. You come back and it's not as good or it doesn't quite work or... too much time has passed, it doesn't quite come together in the same way.

"You don't want to taint what you've already got. If we never come back, you've got these three great seasons - and our third season was our best-reviewed. So, the trajectory was up."

He didn't completely rule out something coming in the future, however he said that it would have to be perfect to get the whole team together again.

"If there was an opportunity for me to come back as Daredevil, whatever that would look like, I imagine it would be a reimagining of the character and the show," he said.

"If they choose me to do it, there are going to be some elements that are, of course, the same. Or they might choose someone else and reboot it all over again."

He also had the perfect response to what would happen if another actor nabbed the Matt Murdock/Daredevil role.

"AlI would go down into my basement. I would find my Daredevil mask [and then] hunt them down. I'd make them fight me for it," he said.
