Ozark's Julia Garner Offered Star Role In Biopic About Pop Queen Madonna

The film will be directed by the Queen of Pop herself.

There is no one quite like Madonna.

Which has been exactly the problem as producers hunt for the perfect actor to step into the pop icon's shoes to play her in an upcoming biopic.

But after a rigorous search that saw several Hollywood it-girls audition, it seems they have finally settled on their star: Ozark's Julia Garner.

Variety reports that Garner has been offered the role, beating out over a dozen frontrunners, including Florence Pugh and Euphoria’s Alexa Demie.

As the two-time Emmy winner's star power continues to grow, playing Madonna will surely be another chance for the Inventing Anna star to show off her top-notch acting chops.

Upon the announcement, Madonna said she hoped to 'convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer — a human being, trying to make her way in this world.'

"The focus of this film will always be music. Music has kept me going and art has kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me," she told Variety.

"It’s essential to share the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision."

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Barbie producer Amy Pascal is behind the film, which Secretary writer Erin Cressida Wilson has co-written.

And with none other than Madonna herself to direct, the currently unnamed movie sounds like it is shaping up to be a female-run flick about the original musical girl boss.

The film is the latest move for the 'Like A Virgin' singer, with the 63-year-old pop star releasing a line of NFTs (non-fungible tokens) that left many people scratching their heads.

The digital artworks were widely criticised for their strange content, depicting the singer giving birth to a tree, robot insects and butterflies and more.

Madge teased the collaboration with digital artist Michael Winkelmann via her Instagram; however, not everyone was too happy with the body of work as they thought it was too graphic.

One person said: "Sorry, but that's one token I don't want to funge."

Another second added: "Someone revoke her access to the internet already pls."

Madonna panned her critics in a prerecorded chat on her Instagram and said: “I’m doing what women have been doing since the beginning of time, which is giving birth."
