Patrick Stewart is keen on reprising his role of Charles Xavier following his cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The 81-year-old actor sat down with Variety to share that he is entertaining the possibility of playing the X-Men legend again.

After being asked if he would ever return to the franchise, the British actor said: “Charles Xavier? Yeah. There may be.

"You know, the whole X-Men comic series is so huge, so vast, there might be an opportunity in which he comes back. We’ll see.”

Stewart's cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness comes as he's promoting the latest season of Star Trek: Picard, which saw him step back onto the USS Enterprise.

So returning to another beloved franchise is definitely not out of the question.

He also disclosed that while he had doubts about appearing in the Marvel flick, he’s ‘very happy’ with the end result.

He said: “I was a little unsure at first if it was a wise thing to do. Given that Logan had been such a powerful movie and we watched him die in Hugh Jackman’s arms.

"So having seen [Doctor Strange 2] on Monday night, I’m very happy and very proud that I’ve been part of that.”

The Star Trek actor also spoke of the visceral experience of watching the film and how dedicated Marvel fans are.

He said: "You remember the laughter when an actor would just mutter some line, and the audience would laugh, because they knew what the context was and they knew what the history of that expression was, and I found that delightful, when an audience become part of the film experience.”

While it’s unclear if the actor will return to a possible X-Men film, there have been many whispers the franchise will be rebooted.

In an interview with CinemaBlend, Doctor Strange actor Elizabeth Olsen confirmed she would like to be a part of the revival.

She said: “I don't really know what I do next after this movie. I don't really know. I want to know what fans want, and what the ideas are.

“But I guess you just said it, if we're bringing X-Men back, I'll want to be there. But I have no actual plans yet. I am very excited to talk with Kevin about that at some point.”
