Start your engines Aussies, because Stan has announced RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under will officially be sashaying to the streaming service in 2021.

Production has already begun for the eight-part, first-ever local adaption of the global hit series.

We've already had spinoff series in the UK, Thailand, Holland and Spain and now Australia will get its very own version of the show that pits drag queens against each other for a shot at the crown.

According to Stan's press release, RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under will once again see queens serving high fashion realness, mini and maxi challenges, shady and heartfelt moments in the workroom, and of course, the all-important lip-sync for your life battles.

RuPaul said of the exciting news: "I cannot wait for everyone to see that Down Under queens have some of the biggest charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talents in the world.

"Thank you to Stan and TVNZ for providing a platform for these outrageous drag artists to share their heart, soul and humour."

Stan has also confirmed that Drag Race veteran Michelle Visage will be by RuPaul's side as a Drag Race Down Under judge.

Following the announcement, fans went into a frenzy that the famous franchise was finally heading Down Under. Many have already been speculating which New Zealand and Aussie drag queens could be starring in the reality series.

One Twitter user declared: "If Art Simone isn't on drag race Australia I will simply start a revolution."

Another even suggested that the ever-iconic Ja'mie - the snobby private school girl portrayed by Chris Lilley in We Can Be Heroes - could be up for the crown.

Stan Chief Content Officer Nick Forward promised fans that the new series will be 'beyond a thrill', adding: "You asked for it Australia, and now we're bringing it to you - finally, our very own Aussie Drag Race the new Stan Original Series RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under!

"The series is already a huge hit with our audience, so to now be working with RuPaul and the entire team at World of Wonder to create a local version is beyond a thrill.

"We can't wait to reveal all the guest judges and see what our local queens bring to the global sensation that is RuPaul's Drag Race."

The Stan Original Series RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under will premiere later in 2021, but if you simply can't wait that long, you can check out all 13 seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race as well as their spin-off seasons on Stan.
