Stranger Things Season 4 Could Soon Dethrone Squid Game As The Biggest Netflix Series Ever

Eleven isn't just coming for Vecna. She's coming for Squid Game, too.

Stranger Things could soon dethrone Squid Game to become the most viewed series ever on Netflix.

Eleven has been on a mission to take out Vecna and now she could take out the streaming crown if things keep tracking as they are.

Stranger Things 4 is now Netflix’s second show in the streaming giant's history to rack up more than one billion hours viewed, Variety reports.

The massive streaming milestone comes after the July 1 debut of the second instalment of the sci-fi show's fourth season.

The second volume consisted of two episodes with a total run time of about four hours.

'Chapter Eight: Papa' has a runtime of one hour, 25 minutes, whereas 'Chapter Nine: The Piggyback' clocks in at a massive two hours and 19 minutes.

The two new episodes brought Stranger Things 4 up to 1.15 billion hours viewed in total since volume one premiered on May 27.

Fans are loving Eleven's latest exploits... which means that the Hawkins gang don't just have Vecna in the firing line.

It's also Squid Game that may be Stranger Things' next victim.

The South Korean dystopian thriller, which debuted in September 2021, remains Netflix’s most popular show ever with 1.65 billion hours viewed.

Netflix calculates each title's first 28 days of availability. After that, viewership is no longer counted.

This makes Stranger Things 4 the second most-popular show overall and the highest achieving English-language series ever.

The latest Stranger Things season is still in the running to take out Squid Game.

Due to the segmented release of the show, viewership for the second volume will be added to the already-completed tally for volume one.

The addition of the second volume has also seen Stranger Things steal back its position as the number one show on the Netflix charts.

It was briefly knocked off the top spot by The Umbrella Academy, with season three dropping on June 22.

Netflix.

This means Stranger Things has returned to the number one slot after sitting at the top nearly every week since season four's release on July 1, with the exception of one week for The Umbrella Academy.

Netflix's top 10 lists are almost dominated by the two shows, with many fans embarking on a rewatch to refresh themselves after the recent season dropped.

Or, they're miffed that there isn't more and have turned to re-bingeing some old favourites.

No judgement here.

We don't blame you for wanting to watch the Hawkins gang on your TV screen again, again, and again.
