Taron Egerton Gives Huge Hint He Could Be The Next Wolverine After Meeting With Marvel's President

Taron Egerton Gives Huge Hint He Could Be The Next Wolverine After Meeting With Marvel's President

The actor told The New York Times, he hopes Marvel Studios will give him a 'shot' to play the iconic superhero.

Taron Egerton has teased that he might be replacing Hugh Jackman in the next Wolverine film after confirming he met with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige,

While sitting down with The New York Times, the Rocketman actor hinted that he might join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in the near future.

When asked if he could be playing the iconic superhero, the Welshman responded: “I don’t think it would be wrong to say that.

“I’d be excited but I’d be apprehensive as well, because Hugh is so associated with the role that I’d wonder if it’d be very difficult for someone else to do it.”

He added: “But hopefully if it does come around, they’ll give me a shot.”

Calls for Egerton to play Wolverine have been swirling for a while. The actor even addressed the rumours back in 2019.

Shortly after Feige announced that the X-Men franchise would be coming to the MCU, the 32-year-old told Variety: "I love Marvel and I love the movies and I'd love the excuse to get in shape.

"I'd love to be a part of it - whether [Wolverine] is realistic or not, I don't know."

However, Egerton isn’t the only actor in the running.

Artwork posted to Instagram by Spdrmnkyxxiii depicts The Boys’ actor Antony Starr as Logan.

The fan-made work even got the attention of the 46-year-old actor, who responded: "Ooofff,- my bones ache just thinking of the stunt work!"

And this is coming from Homelander himself.

While many fans agreed that Starr would be perfect, some even theorised his co-star Karl Urban would be a better fit.

One person said: “Karl Urban would be a better Wolverine tbh.”

While another wrote: “Either him or Karl Urban.”

Look, The Lord of the Rings star definitely has Wolverine’s brooding stare and mutton chops down pat.

While speaking with The Guardian, Urban addressed the calls for him to replace Jackman.

He said: “It’s flattering, but you have to rationally think about it. I’m what, two years younger than Hugh Jackman? I mean, if I was a studio looking to cast someone as Wolverine, I’d pick someone I’ll get three films out of.”

He added: “You’re not going to get three films out of Karl Urban unless you want a 65-year-old Wolverine.”

You've also got actors Daniel Radcliffe being touted as the perfect Wolverine.

Marvel has stayed very tight lipped about the future of the superhero so we'll have to wait and see if he gets revived.
