Taylor Swift has hit back at a joke from Netflix show Ginny & Georgia that alleged she slept with loads of men.

The singer took a screenshot of the dialogue from the series, where the punchline was 'what do you care? you go through men faster than Taylor Swift'.

The Evermore artist uploaded the line to her social media and called out not only the programme but also Netflix for supporting it.

"Hey Ginny & Georgia, 2010 called and it wants its lazy, deeply sexist joke back. How about we stop degrading hard working women by defining this horse s**t as FuNnY," Swift wrote.

"Also, @netflix after Miss Americana this outfit doesn't look cute on you. Happy Women's History Month I guess."

In Miss Americana, Swift explained how female celebrities often face a double standard in the way heir relationship history is judges and revealed how intense the media focuses on her love life.

Since the artist posted the message on Twitter, the reaction has been...swift.

Fans flocked to Ginny & Georgia's page on review website Rotten Tomatoes and absolutely savaged it. The series' first season had a critic score of 65 per cent and an audience score of a disastrous 10 per cent.

Netflix

There are hundreds of one star reviews for the show, with many people hitting back against the writers for slagging off their beloved Taylor.

One user wrote: "The worst show I've ever seen in my life, the worst actors and the worst script. A cat sleeping is more fun than this."

Another added: "Taylor swift deserves respect and this show make fun of her and disrespected her and her music THIS SHOW IS LAME."

A third said: "Netflix really needs to rethink what kinds of shows we want. When your casts are usually cisgender heterosexual and white WE GET BORED. When they have the audacity to slut-shame Taylor Swift who has given them a documentary and a tour and opened so many doors for women in music it's infuriating."

Fans of Swifts also used the moment to highlight other programmes on Netflix that have hilarious and brilliant lines celebrating Taylor and her music.

They pointed to The Good Place, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Vampire Diaries and New Girl for having scripts that didn't take cheap shots at Taylor's dating history.
