The first series of Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer has only just been released and has already left fans hungry for more.

The show has done incredibly well all around the world, with it being one of Netflix’s top 10 most-watched shows ever since it landed on May 13th. Based on the novel The Brass Verdict by Michael Connelly, the ten-part series has been praised by critics in how it captures the essence of Connelly’s books with Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (who plays the protagonist, Mickey Haller) acting with a perfect blend of charm and melancholy which compliments the enticing drama, altogether making the series a solid addition to the long list of engrossing courtroom dramas.

If you have already finished the first season of this energetic crime drama it has probably left you wondering what will happen next?

Will There Be A Second Season?

Officially, it has not yet been confirmed that The Lincoln Lawyer has been renewed by Netflix for a second season, however I'm sure because of its widespread popularity it won’t be long before season 2 gets the greenlight.

This new Netflix adaptation has even managed to unseat the critically acclaimed Ozark as Netflix’s most popular film. So, with fans demanding to see how the story will continue, I'm sure that Netflix will choose to renew this series, rather than let go off a star show like this one.

What Will Season 2 Focus On?

It is hard to say exactly what could happen in a potential second series, but there are a few clues as to what fans of the show could expect:

As aforementioned, the show has been adapted from a book series of the same name by Micheal Connelly. This book series currently contains six books with season one’s story being taken from the second book in the series, The Brass Verdict. It is safe to expect that the next season of the show would follow the story of another one of Connelly’s books, but because the Netflix show doesn't seem to be directly following the order of the book series, it is hard to tell which book will be adapted next.

Even then, this new Netflix series, directed by David E. Kelley does occasionally drift from the original story with a few details from season one already being changed from their original text. Christopher Gorham, who plays Trevor Elliot in the show, commented on this saying that Kelley is “like a film producer” and this gives him a right to change certain aspects of the story which can help “update the storytelling, since the book has been out for quite a while”.

Nonetheless, fans will be excited to hopefully see how the story will continue, most likely following a plot-line from one of Connelly’s books, and giving answers to some of the questions that arose in season one.

When Can We Expect Season 2 To Arrive?

As the show has only just come out it is still very early to determine when a potential second season could be released. But taking into consideration how long it takes to produce and complete an entire show, the earliest date we could possibly expect to see a new season be released would be around late 2023.
