Calvin Harris Reveals Doctors Had To Restart His Heart In 2014

Calvin Harris has revealed how emergency room doctors restarted his heart in 2014.

The 36-year-old DJ was reminiscing on what he described as an 'interesting year', when a video of one of his 2014 sets was shared on to Twitter.

He wrote: "Interesting year for me 2014, started with me knocking myself off number 1 in the UK and ended with my heart getting restarted in the ER... this sort of stuff happened in between."

In November of that year, Calvin was forced to pull out of some of his major gigs including an performance at the MTV European Music Awards.

On announcing that he would be missing the award ceremony, the star told fans that he was suffering from 'some heart problems', adding: "Heading home to see if it can be fixed x."

In 2018, he disclosed that he had actually been diagnosed with arrhythmia after a fan quizzed him about his sober lifestyle.

Replying to Calvin's most recent revelation about his heart being restarted, one fan wrote: "That's wild but glad you're okay and still here," while another added: "I remember! All that you said was you had heart problems to fix but damn! You never said your heart needed to be restarted!"

A third commented: "My goodness, thankfully you survived, and given hope to so many heart patients around the world, and some great information for #doctors to save people."

Fellow musician, Example replied to the tweet saying: "Heart attack from too many number ones??"

He went on to tell fans that he got himself 'in a right old state', going on to explain: "The last thing I want to do is down 2 bottles of jack daniels a night, live on Greggs pasties and sleep on an absolutely stinking bus all year, scream down a mic for 55 minutes and pretend to play a keyboard 5x a week those days are behind me son."

He also the BBC: "I stopped drinking because it actually was making me ill. It was affecting my brain in the worst way."
