Iggy Azalea is stepping back from music for 'a few years' so she can concentrate on 'other creative projects'.

The 31-year-old took to Twitter to tell fans that her upcoming third album will be her last for a while.

She wrote: "End of an Era is so special to me because after I drop my album next month I am going to take a few years to focus on other creative projects and things I'm feeling passionate and inspired by, beyond music.

"I'm excited for you guys to see different sides to me in the future. Shifting my energy and focus to what I'm most excited about is what is right for me and I hope you'll continue to support whatever creative projects I'm out here doing!

"I really love this album and I just want my fans to enjoy this with me. I hope I see so many of you on tour!"

As yet, the Australian rapper hasn't shared details of what she's got lined up, but it seems as though we won't have too long to wait, as she responded to one fan to say: "I have the coolest project dropping the week after my album and I can't wait til you guys see it!"

Azalea, whose real name is Amethyst Amelia Kelly, has announced her departure from making music just weeks after coming under fire for 'blackfishing'.

The term 'blackfishing' refers to white people who pretend to be black or mixed race.

When the video Azalea's new track I Am the Stripclub social media users speculated on her appearances with some claiming she had darkened her skin.

After the video landed, one Twitter user wrote: "Can someone please tell #IggyAzalea that she's not a person of colour?"

While a second said: "She's trying to trick us into thinking she's Black again."

But Azalea branded the remarks 'ridiculous'.

She wrote: "I can't care about something that ridiculous and baseless. I'm wearing a shade 6 in Armani foundation, it's the same shade I've worn for the last three years."

To another fan she replied: "I'm the same colour as I always am, just in a dimly lit room with red lights.

"It's the same makeup from every other part of the video just with a Smokey eye and different wig.

"Just ignore them, who cares? Let 'em talk."
