Sabrina Carpenter has explained what's going through the minds of her grandparents when she gets raunchy on stage.

Looking back, it's hard to believe how the singer, 25, rose to fame on Disney Channel series Girl Meets World back in 2014.

Alongside her onscreen success, she released her debut album Can't Blame a Girl for Trying, in the same year, but didn't really become well-known until recently.

It wasn't until her 2022 album Emails I Can’t Send where Carpenter gained critical acclaim - and now she's everywhere.

Some say it was a combination of her mature lyrics and catchy hooks which has now put her well in the public eye.

Also known for expressing her sexuality on stage, Carpenter often pokes fun at herself whilst performing NSFW.

“I just wanna ride him like a rodeo / But first he gotta grow it like Pinocchio / Sorry I’m so vulgar, San Antonio,” she said during a San Antonio show.

Another example of her love of innuendos was while supporting Taylor Swift on her Eras Tour in Singapore, as the Pennsylvania-born musician sang: “Told that boy to sit me down on all fours / I told that boy go faster, now I’m all sore / You hit a little different here, Singapore.”

In a new interview with Time, she recalled when her father and 94-year-old grandad came to her opening night show in Columbus.

"My fans online are like, I can’t believe she's bending over in front of her grandparents," she told the outlet.

Explaining what they were thinking, she added: "I'm like, girl, they are not paying attention to that. They’re just like, I can’t believe all these people are here."

Having started her career at a young age, Carpenter pointed out: "People like to make you feel like, when you’re above 21 in this industry, you’re haggard.

"But I’m trying to remember that I’m still quite young."

On how consistency has played a pivotal role in her journey to the top, she added: "There were so many things I dreamt of doing as a little girl I got to do this year that felt like such a cool, sweet, little bucket-list moment for my younger self.

"I literally threw up when I found out about SNL. Not to be graphic.

"I grew up watching those performances and being like, I want to do that.

"But then it all just seemed so—not even out of reach, just like I had a different plan in my head of when it was all supposed to happen."
