Slipknot quickly remove post after addressing Sid Wilson being 'kicked out' of band
Slipknot may now have addressed the rumours that band member Sid Wilson was leaving the group, but a post confirming the news was then swiftly removed.
The 'Psychosocial' musicians have for some time been at the heart of speculation around whether Wilson, 49, was to leave the heavy metal group.
Last month, sources had claimed that the official keyboardist and DJ was permanently out of the band but there had been no official confirmation, with guitarist Jim Root warning their fans not to ‘believe everything you read’.
However a post on Instagram now seems to have confirmed what was suspected - that Wilson was permanently stepping away from the group - before said post was then deleted and then re-posted again.

Taking to the social media, the band shared a black photo along with text which read: "Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson. We wish him the best with his future endeavours."
The post, initially deleted within minutes, was screenshotted by eagle-eyed followers and shared across social media, including Instagram and X. It now appears to still be on the Knotfest account, which is for a festival created in 2012 by the band.
Wilson was known as No. 0 and served as the keyboardist and turntablist for the band, joining them in 1998 before their mainstream breakthrough.
Speculation about Wilson's place in the band had started last month when a source told TMZ that he had been ‘notified late Friday afternoon that he’s been permanently kicked out of the band.’
But this was never officially confirmed by the band. However, guitarist Jim Root shared at the time: "Don’t believe everything you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for a while. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information".
However, as of Saturday (15 August), Wilson's Instagram bio still appears to claim he's in the group, reading: "@slipknot gang since 1997." He is yet to address the split, most recently posting a story to his profile promoting his DJing.
The band have not spoken out any further about why they are parting from Wilson other than saying they will 'no longer be associated' with him.
The departure of Wilson is one of many that the band have faced in the last few years. Back in 2019, they announced they were splitting from Chris Fehn,
after he filed a lawsuit against his bandmates claiming he had not been paid correctly.
And member Craig Jones, a sampler and keyboardist, who had joined them in 1996, left the band in 2023. Similarly, the band announced they had parted ways with Jones, though it was removed the same day.
They also then parted ways with drummer Jay Weinberg over what was described as a 'creative decision'.
