SZA gets ‘one of lowest Glastonbury crowds’ people have seen during headline set

'Kill Bill' and 'Good Days' singer SZA performed the final Pyramid Stage slot last night

Well, it’s all over for another year. The screaming crowds in fields and having FOMO of all your mates being there has come to an end.

No, not the Euros as England have managed to stay in, but Glastonbury.

After fans on Worthy Farm and BBC viewers were treated to the likes of Shania Twain, Idles and Kasabian over the weekend, the legendary festival finished last night (30 June) as SZA took to the Pyramid Stage.

However, while the American singer and songwriter belted out her Grammy Award winning music, people say she drew ‘one of the lowest Glastonbury crowds’ they’ve seen during a headline set.

Dua Lipa and Coldplay also performed the coveted headline slots at the festival, with fans saying the band gave Elton John a ‘run for his money’ with their massive crowd on Saturday (29 June).

But unfortunately, the same can’t be said for SZA who drew a noticeably smaller audience for her performance.

One user shared a screenshot of the BBC coverage from just before the ‘Kill Bill’ singer came on stage, writing on X: “That SZA crowd is one of the lowest I’ve ever seen for a Pyramid Headliner. Wow.”

Another shared a snap to Reddit showing an empty area of field not too far from the side of the stage, saying it’s ‘got to be the smallest pyramid stage headliner crowd they’ve ever seen’.

A gutted Glasto-goer wrote on X: “Oh wow, I’ve got work tomorrow so had to leave early, but feel bad for her getting a headline slot and having such a small crowd.”

Others on Reddit said it’s ‘quite a big different’ to last year as they called it ‘a shame’.

One speculated: “She is one of the most streamed artists in the world and is amazing, but didn’t quite have the universal appeal of a pyramid headliner yet.”

Some said it ‘looks really bad on TV’ as others noted plenty of people had started leaving the festival early to beat traffic.

“SZA has a beautiful voice and I’d be there. But she’s not the right act for Sunday night headlining,” someone else claimed.

SZA's set also clashed with a number of acts, including James Blake, London Grammar and The National.

Meanwhile, others took to suggesting who they think should have had a shot at headlining this year as one said Glastonbury ‘unironically should have made Avril [Lavigne] a headliner’.

Another commented: “Avril would have absolutely smashed a headline set; her set was probably my favourite of the weekend tbh.”

Well, massive crowd or not, SZA performed some absolute bangers on that stage last night, rounding off another great year of the festival.

LADbible has contacted Glastonbury and SZA’s reps for comment.
