The festive season is officially upon us and that means one thing - it's Christmas movie time, baby!

I mean, what's more fun that settling down on the sofa with a hot chocolate and watching The Holiday with your loved one?

But it can be often be difficult to decide what to stick on the telly for those who don't celebrate Christmas - or simply haven't gotten into the wintery spirit just yet - when every film seems to be a kids' cartoon or a cringe-worthy rom-com.

If I'm describing your predicament, however, do not fear, as Netflix has added a brand new batch of binge-worthy festive-free movies and TV shows that will see you through to 2024.

Choosing what to watch is always a difficult decision.

You can stick your teeth into the first-half of the final EVER series of The Crown, and as of next week, you'll be able to watch the eagerly-anticipated Chicken Run sequel.

Or, for those who haven't yet, you can catch up with the smash-hit first season of Squid Game: The Challenge, which has just given us our first-ever real life winner.

NETFLIX IS SECRETLY REMOVING LOADS OF SHOWS AND MOVIES THIS MONTH

However, if your taste in TV is slightly more ominous, you'll be delighted to know that a brand new star-studded psychological thriller will be dropping in just a matter of HOURS that is guaranteed to blow your socks off.

The film's official Netflix premise reads: "A family vacation on Long Island is interrupted by two strangers bearing news of a mysterious blackout.

"As the threat grows more imminent, both families must decide how best to survive the potential crisis, all while grappling with their own place in this collapsing world."

And on top of the spine-tingling plot, the movie also boasts a whole host of familiar faces, including Hollywood icons Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, Myha’la Herrold and Kevin Bacon.

We're, of course, talking about Leave the World Behind.

Directed and produced by Sam Esmail and adapted from the 2020 novel of the same name by Rumaan Alam, this chilling new movie was first released in limited theatres last month but will land on the streaming service tomorrow (8 December).

And it's safe to say that thriller fans are eagerly excited for the blockbuster's television debut with many sharing the trailer on social media and expressing their delight.

"Whoever put this trailer together deserves a raise and should do all trailers for movies," one viewer wrote on X.

Another added: "These trailers deserve their own award show. Should be a shining example of how it is done properly."

While a third added: "Ok not missing this."

And someone else commented: "That trailer for Leave the World Behind with Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke and Julia Roberts looks fire. I can’t wait for it to hit Netflix next weekend."
