Michael Fassbender’s new movie has landed on Netflix and it’s already proving to be a big hit with viewers.

The Killer is directed by Hollywood heavy-weight David Fincher, who has previously directed Seven, Fight Club, Gone Girl and Netflix’s Mindhunter - so you know it’s going to be good. Check out the trailer here:

The movie is based upon the French graphic novel series of the same name written by Alexis ‘Matz’ Nolent, and sees Fassbender playing the role of a professional assassin known only as The Killer.

A brief synopsis from Netflix reads: “After a fateful near-miss, an assassin battles his employers, and himself, on an international manhunt he insists isn’t personal.”

Alongside Fassbender, The Killer also stars Charles Parnell, Arliss Howard, Sophie Charlotte, and Tilda Swinton.

The movie had a brief release in select cinemas last month, and it is now on Netflix, where viewers have been left seriously impressed with one person even going as far as to say it’s the best film of the year.

The Killer stars Michael Fassbender as the titular assassin.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan said: “Important reminder that The Killer is now streaming on Netflix. Go watch one of the best and coolest movies of the year.”

A second added: “If Oppenheimer and Killers of the Flower Moon hadn't come out this year, The Killer would be the best movie of 2023.

“INSANELY good, insanely tight, tense, well plotted and acted, an incredibly interesting tale of assassination work in the age of Amazon and Airbnb. 10/10.”

Someone else wrote: “The Killer is my favorite movie of the year in a way that speaks to my soul but this is obviously the best movie of the year.”

Another added: “The best movie of the year came to Netflix today: The Killer.”

The movie has proved to be a big hit with viewers.

“The Killer is now streaming on Netflix! It’s one of Fincher’s best and among my favorites of the year. I cannot recommend enough,” praised a sixth fan.

The Killer has a very respectable 7.4 on IMDB, while it holds an 87 percent score on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, with a slightly lower audience score of 80 percent.

The website's consensus says: "The Killer finds director David Fincher on firm footing with a stylish and engaging thriller that proves a perfect match for leading man Michael Fassbender."

If you fancy checking what all the fuss is about for yourself then The Killer is streaming on Netflix right now.
