It’s a tale as old as time: The first season of a hit Netflix show comes out and takes the world by storm, with everyone raving about how they binged it all in one night.

After the acclaim and praise a second season comes around, and try as they might to make it live up to the hype, they fall short and fans turn on it.

This cycle is incredibly common, and has happened once again with the newly released season of The Night Agent.

Netflix’s charts show that this hasn’t had a huge effect on how watchable the show is, with it sitting top of the streamer’s charts in the UK, and the world.

Despite this though, fans are laying into the second season, with many coming up with similar complaints.

One fan posted on the subreddit r/Netflix to say: "Night Agent Season 2 = Massive Disappointment. I loved the first season and did not expect much from it, which might have been key.

"I was hoping for more of the same understated approach with brief bursts of action and situational resolution.

"This was not that. This was a convoluted mess of overly complicated ideas and plot lines, with random characters that are just an inch deep on development.

"They made Rose sadly annoying and inexplicably demanding and entitled. Watch season one and pretend this doesn’t exist."

The character of Rose, as well as Farhad, were incredibly common criticisms of season two.

One comment on a reaction thread said: "ROSE is so annoying omg. I'm about to stop watching halfway through ep 2."

Another said: "Is it me, or did they have no idea what to do with Rose? As in, how to get her back into this season's plot and with Petah.,, Because Lol."

Similarly, viewers had major criticisms of Farhad’s character.

One fan tweeted: "Watching Night Agent 2 and Farhad might be the dumbest character I've ever seen. What a fool," as another replied saying: "No literally like what was the reason !!"

A third fan tweeted: "Farhad on Night Agent 2 is the most annoying and dumbest character."

And a fourth tweeted about the season overall saying: "Ehhhhhhh Season 1 was definitely a lot better in my opinion and im not even finished 2 yet."

Not everyone agrees though, with some fans having loved season 2.

One fan tweeted: "One thing about the night agent it's gonna make sure you stay locked in for that next episode. this is real tv."

The Night Agent season two is available to watch on Netflix now.
