Netflix add ‘chilling’ horror with incredibly unique twist viewers have never seen before

Netflix added the new horror series today

Netflix has added a ‘chilling’ horror series with an incredibly unique twist, with viewers saying they’ve never seen something like it before.

Netflix is best known for many things, whether it be new seasons of Monster or hit dramas such as House of Guinness.

If you really had to argue where Netflix truly excels over other streaming services, however, you would argue it’s in their catalogue of horror and documentaries.

This new TV show continues that tradition by successfully combining the two genres to a certain extent.

The series is essentially a version of Animal Planet, but told as if it were a horror series from the perspective of the animals.

Called Nightmares of Nature, the series is narrated by Maya Hawke and follows prey as they attempt to navigate the wild and evade the most terrifying predators.

The show is created by Blumhouse, a specialist horror production studio known best for creating Paranormal Activity, Insidious, and The Purge.

One fan specifically responded to the announcement, excited by Blumhouse being behind it, saying: “From the creators of horror classics to the horrors of nature itself… this is going to be chilling AND fascinating!”

Another said: “Never knew how much I needed a nature documentary presented through a horror lens until now,” while a third commented: “My goodness, animal planet horror??? Sign me the f up.”

Others simply noted how they had never seen a concept like this.

Thankfully, the show appears not to be just an empty premise, as it has struck a chord with critics.

Heaven of Horror, a horror-focused website, said in their review of the show: “As someone who is a huge lover of animals, I have always found many nature documentaries much scarier than any horror movie.

“Making a nature documentary as a horror movie is truly the stuff of nightmares for me!

Bloody Disgusting, arguably the most well-known horror-focused film website around, gave the show a positive review, saying: “Nightmares of Nature is a fun, fascinating experiment that deserves a chance to grow and produce more episodes.

“It’s taking risks and expanding the definition of horror in a way that can leave audiences educated and enlightened, which is never a bad thing.”

The show has already been commissioned for a second season, with Bloody Disgusting noting how it will likely grow as a concept over time.

Nightmares of Nature is available to stream on Netflix now.
