Boiling Point actor Stephen Graham is featuring in a brand-new limited series for Netflix.

The four-part crime drama Adolescence has remarkably filmed each of its episodes in one continuous shot, which means the storyline unfolds in real time.

Adolescence follows 13-year-old Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper) who is arrested after a teenage girl from his school is murdered.

Graham plays his father Eddie Miller, as Top Boy star Ashley Walters takes on the role of detective inspector Luke Bascombe.

You can take a look at the trailer below:

What is Adolescence about?

“We could have made a drama about gangs and knife crime, or about a kid whose mother is an alcoholic or whose father is a violent abuser,” Graham told Netflix.

“Instead, we wanted you to look at this family and think, ‘My God. This could be happening to us!’ And what’s happening here is an ordinary family’s worst nightmare.”

In the series, Eddie sits in with his murder suspect son while he gets questioned by police.

Leading the charge is inspector Bascombe who is firmly focused on getting to the bottom of it all.

The Crown's Erin Doherty stars as a clinical psychologist Briony Ariston, while other notable names include Game of Thrones' Faye Marsay, Happy Valley alum Mark Stanley, After Life actress Jo Hartley, and The Responder's Christine Tremarco.

“One of our aims was to ask, ‘What is happening to our young men these days, and what are the pressures they face from their peers, from the internet, and from social media?’” Graham added.

“And the pressures that come from all of those things are as difficult for kids here as they are the world over.”

If you've seen Boiling Point, you'll know exactly what to expect.

Director Philip Barantini explains: “Basically, that means we press record on the camera and we don’t press stop until the very end of the hour.

“But it’s much more complicated than it sounds.

“It takes months of preparation and weeks of rehearsals and an incredible team of people to pull it off at every stage, from the script to the locations to the production design to where exactly the camera is going to be able to shoot and from what angle.”

Netflix started shooting the show in July 2024 in various spots across South Kirkby and Sheffield.

All four episodes of Adolescence will be available to stream on Netflix from 13 March.
