Netflix viewers have been left constantly guessing by a mystery mini-series which you can watch in one go.
Between their Harlan Coben adaptations, shows like Dept Q, and the beloved Mindhunter, Netflix is stacked full of twisty mystery shows.
One Netflix show in particular, however, has had fans intrigued due to the major twist in the show and the unsettling vibe to it.
The TV show stars Simona Brown as a single mother named Louise who is faced with a world of f**ked up mind games after beginning an affair with her boss, David.
Things get even weirder when Louise begins a friendship with David’s wife, Adele, played by Eve Hewson.
Called Behind Her Eyes, the show was met with middling reviews by critics but has slowly developed a cult following amongst fans.
Another character, Rob, played by Robert Aramayo, plays a major part in the show, but his role in the plot twist is so genuinely bonkers that it is better to not explain whatsoever.
Without explaining the twist (which again, is bonkers), the best way to explain without spoiling is to take people’s reactions to it.
One fan took to Reddit to discuss the final episode and said: “I just finished it last night and I was definitely not prepared for that ending.”
Another said: “This was such a great watch, stuck with me for sure.”
A third said: “I want so badly to rewatch this series now knowing the ending. Think it will be so interesting knowing what is revealed.”
The show was also the top answer to a recent thread asking for the best limited series with a good twist on Netflix.
Louise has an affair with David which kickstarts a bizarre series of events (Netflix) Posted in r/NetflixBestOf, the show was called the ‘perfect recommendation’. Despite the fan love for the show its reviews were quite mixed with critics.
It received a score of 63% on Rotten Tomatoes, with Brian Lowry of CNN giving one of the show’s positive reviews.
He said in his review: “By the time it's over, this sci-fi-tinged limited series becomes a buzzworthy binge, one that will likely have you thinking back to clues you might have missed along the way.”
Roxana Hadadi of RogerEbert.com also appreciated the series, calling it ‘a fantastically entertaining magic trick of a TV show, so confident in its incongruous genre mashup that you won't be able to look away'.
The show has a wild twist (Netflix) Others, however, were less keen, with Caroline Framke of Variety saying of the show: “Behind Her Eyes is just too ridiculous to take even half as seriously as the show takes itself.”
The show’s plot twist, adapted from the book it is based on, which was marketed with the hashtag #WTFIsThatEnding, is utterly, utterly bonkers – something that is sure to put some fans off and make others obsessed with it.
The only way to find out which side you fall on is to binge it.
Behind Her Eyes is on Netflix now.
