The creators of Stranger Things have denied reports that Joseph Quinn is set to return as Eddie Munson for the final season of the show, but fans are not convinced.
The Duffer Brothers, who created the Netflix show and act as showrunners, stated that Munson is dead and definitely wouldn’t be appearing in the final season.
Stranger Things is set to finish after nine years, with the Netflix show releasing the final three episodes on New Year’s Eve.

Despite reports to the contrary, Matthew Beloni has revealed that Netflix will be airing the finale in cinemas on New Year’s Eve, saying talks have evolved.
This is not the biggest news of the day though with the Duffer Brothers officially confirming that Eddie Munson is dead, though for good reason not everyone on social media is convinced.
Why fans are convinced that Eddie Munson is coming back for season 5 of Stranger Things despite what the creators have said?
A number of theories suggest that Quinn will be returning as Eddie in the final season of the show.
Quinn has gone on to become a major film star off the back of his success on the show, starring in Gladiators 2, A Quiet Place: Day One, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps in just the last year.

Speaking about Munson, Matt Duffer said: “I love that Joe Quinn is toying with people! But no, he’s dead.
“Joe is so busy anyway, that everyone should know he's not coming back. He’s shot like five movies since!
“When the hell has he got time to come and shoot Stranger Things? No, sadly, RIP. He’s fully under that ground.”
Fans on Reddit, however, have already noted Duffer’s specific wording, with one comment on a thread about his quotes saying: “I mean, the Upside Down is 'under,' soooo...”
Others pointed out the fact that the wording appears very specific, and with Munson having died in the Upside Down in season four, the possibility remains that Vecna could bring him back from the dead.
Fans have a major theory that could see Eddie Munson return in Stranger Things season five

Following Andrew Garfield’s insistence he wouldn’t be in Spider-Man: No Way Home, only to end up appearing, fans are no longer convinced when the people behind major shows insist actors won’t show up.
One fan on Reddit put forward a popular theory which many of the show’s fans have suggested feels likely.
The theory centres around a Dungeons and Dragons character Kas the Betrayer, a general of Vecna in lore who turns against the heroes after being turned into a vampire by a swarm of bats in similar fashion to Munson.
The show has taken a lot of inspiration from D&D lore, with Venca himself being a major part of Dungeons and Dragon.
One fan on Reddit said: “The Kas Theory… The big one and arguably the most popular Eddie theory, which is that Eddie will return as Vecna's right hand man, similar to the D&D character, Kas the betrayer.

“Me personally, I believe this could happen. Eleven brought Max back from the dead, so...why wouldn't Vecna do the same for Eddie?
“Using the trauma against the traumatic is part of Vecna's M.O, so it's not far out there. Plus, Dustin is reportedly having his own storyline in season 5, so Eddie returning in this way makes sense.”
