24,000 People Have Signed Petition Calling For Kanye West To Be Dumped From Coachella

Following the abusive threats hurled at Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend Pete Davidson, many are calling for Kanye West to be removed from the Coachella line-up.

The ‘All of the Lights’ rapper is set to perform at the 2022 Coachella festival next month alongside fellow rappers Vince Staples, Big Sean, Lil Baby and Denzel Curry.

However, a Change.org petition demanding that he be banned from the event has accumulated over 23,000 signatures and is quickly gaining momentum.

The petition, named ‘Remove Kanye from Coachella!’ was started by Carmello Marie and states: “We have watched Kanye harass, manipulate, and hurt Kim, Pete, and others for over a year now.

“No one seems to want to stand up to him, and the ones that do, he puts under fire as well.”

It continues: “Most recently, he has been threatening actual bodily harm on others. This is ridiculous that he is allowed to freely do this.

Coachella (along with other brand names that are still working with him) should be ashamed of themselves and should not be giving him any more of a platform.”

West was recently temporarily banned from Instagram after violating the platform’s guidelines on hate speech, bullying and harassment.

TMZ reported Ye attempted to post a slew of attacks against Kardashian, Davidson (yet again) and Trevor Noah, who publicly condemned the rapper last week.

The Daily Show host spoke about the ongoing harassment of Kardashian, accusing the rapper of becoming ‘more and more belligerent in how he tries to get Kim back.’

He said: “(It’s) spun into a story that seems fully tabloid but I think deserves a little more awareness from the general public because it touches on something that is more sensitive and more serious than people would like to admit.

“You may not feel sorry for Kim because she’s rich and famous, because of the way she dresses, because she appropriates black culture, because she tells women they’re lazy, broke the internet and then didn’t put it back together, whatever, you hate her,” he said.

“But what she’s going through is terrifying to watch, and it shines a spotlight on what so many women go through when they choose to leave.”

It’s yet to be seen if Coachella organisers will reprimand West; however, a representative for the Grammy’s confirmed to Variety that the rapper’s performance was pulled due to his ‘concerning online behaviour' last week.
