Piers Morgan Says He ‘Doesn’t Buy’ Adele’s Excuse For Cancelling Vegas Gig

Piers Morgan has said he ‘ain’t buying’ Adele’s reasons for cancelling her Las Vegas shows. 

Adele was set to perform two concerts at the Colosseum theatre each weekend from 21 January to 16 April, but was forced to postpone her shows due to the coronavirus pandemic. 

In a tearful video uploaded on Instagram, the 33-year-old revealed that as half her team had been struck down with the virus they're not able to put on the show that she's been working hard on - and that the shows would be rescheduled to later in the year. 

She said: "We've been up against so much and it just ain't ready. I'm so sorry.

"We've tried absolutely everything that we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you. 

"But we've been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and Covid. Half my team, half my crew are hit by Covid. They still are and it's been impossible to finish the show." 

Adele then said she felt 'upset and embarrassed' but that getting things turned around had simply been 'impossible'.

She added: "I'm gutted and I'm sorry it's so last minute." 

“I can’t give you what I have right now, and I’m gutted. I’m sorry it’s last minute.”

However, Morgan has now written a piece as a part of his new column for the Sun in which he claims he’s doesn’t believe Adele’s ‘excuses’ and suggests that the singer ‘didn't prepare properly’ for her residency, which he claimed lead to her decision to postpone the residency. 

He alleges that Adele was caught up in ‘blazing rows’ with the concert’s set designer and that she ‘didn’t even bother to turn up to rehearsals’.

He wrote: “Adele didn’t prepare properly and didn’t visit the stage before it was too late — and then threw an extended diva fit of Biblical proportions that culminated in her throwing her Meghan-like 'What Adele wants, Adele gets!' toys out of the pram and abruptly scrapping the entire residency a day before it was due to start.

“And by doing so, she destroyed God knows how many dream trips by die-hard fans who had shelled out not just on tickets, but flights and hotels, too.”

And Morgan didn’t stop there - he went on to brand the Grammy-award winner of being a ‘privileged, pampered prima donna’ and accused her of cancelling ‘at a moment’s notice because she can’t get everything she demands’. 

He then said: "If Freddie Mercury can make an album as he was literally dying, then she could probably have found the inner strength to pocket $500,000 a night to sing a few songs even if the set design wasn’t absolutely perfect.

"That would have been the right thing to do for the fans she professes to love so much."
