Today I’m offering you the perfect medication for the mid-week blues. Stick on your dressing gown, grab yourself a cold one or a cuppa and take five minutes to enjoy some positive news stories from around Ireland this week. Sure, you’d be bonkers not to! Let’s get into it!

Super Seán Boyle - A True Hero

With World Down Syndrome Day just around the corner (March 31st) the Donegal faction of Down Syndrome Ireland are highlighting one of their heroes. Seán Boyle is a young man from Arranmore Island in Donegal who's making a name for himself with his incredible achievements and infectious enthusiasm. Seán, who has Down syndrome, is being celebrated by Down Syndrome Ireland for his determination and spirit, and it's easy to see why.

Seán has just turned 18 and is already a trailblazer in his community. He's completed the prestigious Bord Iascaigh Mhara Basic Safety Training course, which opens doors to a career in the maritime industry—a dream he's had since he was a kid. His family has a strong fishing tradition, and Seán is following in their footsteps with his "sea blood" running strong.

Seán is also a published author! He wrote and published "Seán's Guide to First Aid," donating all €2,000 in proceeds to Down Syndrome Ireland's Donegal branch. This book was even launched by none other than Donegal's beloved singer, Daniel O'Donnell.

Seán’s achievements are a testament to his perseverance and his story is inspiring others and proving that with the right support, anyone can achieve their dreams. So if you need to feel inspired, look to Seán...not all heroes wear capes!

Fota Wildlife Park Takes Flight - New Ferris Wheel Coming Soon

Fota Wildlife Park in Cork is getting ready to take things to new heights—literally! They're installing a brand new Ferris wheel, offering visitors a bird's-eye view of the park's stunning surroundings. Imagine spotting giraffes and monkeys from up high; it's like being a wildlife detective on a mission to spot all the hidden critters.

For me, Fota Wildlife Park holds a special place in my heart, albeit with a slightly painful memory. The last time I visited, I was seven years old, and my dad accidentally slammed my thumb in the car door. Let's just say, the young wild cats had some competition in the roaring department that day!

This new Ferris wheel is sure to please both kids and adults, providing a unique bird’s eye view on the park's beautiful landscapes and wildlife. Imagine soaring above the treetops, feeling the wind in your hair, and taking in the breath taking views of the surrounding park. It's the perfect way to add some excitement to your day out and create new memories that don't involve crushed thumbs!

Fota Wildlife Park is already a fantastic destination for families and nature lovers, with its diverse range of animals and interactive exhibits. The addition of the Ferris wheel will only add to the fun, making it a must-visit spot for anyone looking for a fun and adventurous day out in Cork. So, if you're ready to take your wildlife experience to new heights, Fota is the place to be!
