President Zelenskyy Sends Incredible Message From Bunker To The Grammy Awards

The Ukrainian leader said 'our musicians wear body armour instead of tuxedos'.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has sent a message from a Kyiv bunker to the 64th Grammy Awards.

While the evening usually highlights the success of the music industry, organisers thought it was important to remind everyone about what was happening in Ukraine.

Zelenskyy told everyone who was attending the glitzy ceremony: "Our musicians wear body armour instead of tuxedos.

"They sing to the wounded in hospitals, even to those who can’t hear them. But the music will break through.

"We defend our freedom to live, to love, to sound."

He urged everyone watching in the audience or at home to 'support us in any way you can'.

After his message was delivered John Legend sang 'Free' and was joined on stage by Mika Newton and Lyuba Yakimchuk.

Yakimchuk fled Ukraine a few days ago, according to USA Today, and is a poet from Donbas.

While Newton is a Ukrainian singer, whose sister is serving in the Ukrainian army.
