Ricky Gervais Responds After Being Asked What’s The One Thing He Won’t Joke About

Ricky Gervais has made a fair few jokes in his day, but there's one he says he won't joke about.

Ricky Gervais has made a fair few jokes in his day, but there's one he says he won't joke about.

Gervais, who's known for his no-holds-barred humour, has been in trouble a few times for making a near-the-mark joke.

This included ripping into basically every celebrity in Hollywood during the five times he hosted the Golden Globes.

Still, Gervais has no qualms about roasting celebrities, saying of his performance at the 2020 ceremony, as reported by the Daily Mail: "But by the fifth time, I think I hit the mark – everyone was being horrible about celebrities; it was part of the zeitgeist.

"I loved it but it was nerve-wracking because you have just one chance not to fluff the joke – it's like taking a penalty at Wembley! I'm really glad I did it but it's enough."

So, if everyone's favourite celebs are off-limits, who is?

Nuts.

Yep, the kind you get in a packed on an airplane, or in a bowl at a bar that you definitely shouldn't touch.

Well, rather it's who can't eat nuts, as opposed to the food itself.

Gervais explained that he won't joke about 'food allergies' since causing controversy on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in 2016.

During the show, Gervais has a few gripes when he was denied free peanuts while in first-class because a fellow plane passenger had a severe allergy.

"They told us 'We’re not handing out nuts today, because there’s a passenger on board with a very serious nut allergy. Even if someone else is eating nuts, it could kill them.'

"I said out loud, ‘Of course, fine,’ but in my head, I’m thinking, ‘Why is that my problem?'

"I know this person would die, but I’m thinking, ‘I never wanted to eat nuts more!'"

As you can imagine, this didn't go over well with people who have life-threatening allergies.

One user wrote: "I know you're joking, but my daughter has a severe allergy & someone did put pnuts in her backpack to hurt her."

While another wrote: "Poor you can't have any nuts, why don't you grow a pair & go tell a little kid that might DIE how upset you are!"

A third chimed in: "Not sure if I'm more disappointed in @rickygervais and his insensitive joke or @FallonTonight for reposting it like it was funny."

So, there you have it, there's a clear line and Gervais has drawn it.
