Former 'Harry Potter' Actor Has Had An Incredible MMA Transformation

The Harry Potter franchise has been a huge part of a lot of people's lives, so much so that it's tough to forget those innocent faces that first appeared in cinemas in 2001.

Despite watching Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and the rest of the cast grow up, people still think of them of child actors who'll never be able to shake the shackles that JK Rowling's characters bound them in.

Of course they are, with each going their own way, but Josh Herdman, who played Gregory Goyle in the film series, has had the most intriguing post-Potter career.

The 30-year-old is completely unrecognisable now he's got rid of the Slytherin robes, and is looking in great shape.

The once portly child villain is currently competing in the Rise of Champions MMA promotion, owned by former UFC competitor Brad Pickett, having had his second fight last night.

The actor won the bout against Sam Radley via split decision in Brentwood, UK.

His second fight came prior to his starring role in Jesse Quinones-directed film Cagefighter, which, if we're honest, makes total sense.

"The script had me hooked instantly. The story, characters and dialogue are all on point," Herdman said of the film.

"To get the lead in a movie about one of my passions is a dream come true. It's such an interesting concept too, not just a regular fight movie, it's deeper than that, there's a totally different angle.

"It reveals some of the the darkest parts to fighting and in some places specifically to MMA, dealing with important issues. I can't wait to get stuck in."

As awe inspiring as Herdman's transformation is, it's not quite as good as the one Vincent Crabbe's character went through in the final Harry Potter film. Eagle eyed viewers may, but only maybe, noticed that the character changed from a white kid, to a tall, skinny, black kid.

Well, technically it was Blaise Zabini, but everyone assumed it was Crabbe, because there was no indication of Crabbe ever leaving.

If you've read the books, then you'll remember the scene when Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle fought Harry, Ron and Hermione during the battle of Hogwarts.

So why was Crabbe, played by Jamie Waylett, replaced by Zabini in the film?

As it turns out, Waylett was a naughty boy outside of the role, and his choices cost him his spot in the last part of the franchise.

The BBC reported that the actor, who was 20 years old at the time, was found guilty of growing marijuana at his home, but also admitted to possession of cannabis and a knife.

As a consequence, the young man was sentenced to 120 hours unpaid work by Westminster Magistrates' Court.

This took place in 2009 and the second part of the film was released two years later in 2011.

Waylett was arrested in the same year for his involvement in the London riots, after being pictured 'holding a petrol bomb' and 'swigging from a stolen bottle of champagne'.

This earned the actor a two-year sentence for violent disorder, and a further 12 months for handling stolen goods.

Naturally this confirmed his removal from the Harry Potter franchise, which is when Warner Bros made the decision to completely replace his character with Zabini, played by Louis Cordice.
