WWE has revealed that an unknown member of 'on screen' staff has tested positive for the coronavirus.

While we can't be sure who the employee is, we are told they are not a member of the WWE roster, but are a member of their on screen talent, according to Pro Wrestling Sheet.

WWE also confirmed the person who is infected is 'doing well' and is not in a serious condition.

It is thought the member of staff was exposed to the virus after filming for WWE was complete, and then immediately went into quarantine after testing positive for Covid-19.

WWE has been taking place recently behind closed doors.

The company does not believe that any of the other members of cast and crew are in any danger of contracting the infection as a result of the individual.

WWE said in a statement: "We believe this matter is low risk to WWE talent and staff, as the individual and a roommate became symptomatic in the days following exposure to two people working in acute health care on the evening of March 26, after WWE's TV production on a closed set was already complete.

"The employee had no contact with anyone from WWE since being exposed to those two individuals, is doing well, and made a complete recovery."

This news comes after WWE announced that live shows will begin to be broadcast, albeit without any audience, as of next week.

All of the shows are being filmed in Orlando, Florida, which is currently under lockdown conditions with members of the public being told to remain at home until at least 30 April.

WWE confirmed that anyone who is heading into the studios for the filming - that means both cast and crew members - must practise social distancing and have their temperature taken upon arrival.

Kinda spooky, isn't it?

Obviously, those involved in the matches won't be able to social distance, but they'll all be tested and cleared to fight beforehand.

At the end of March, former WWE champion Roman Reigns pulled out of WrestleMania 36 - the company's showpiece event - because of concerns about the virus.

Reigns has suffered from leukaemia in the past, and is immunocompromised as a result.

So far, more than 20,600 people have died in the USA from coronavirus, and confirmed cases are now more than half a million.
