Tara Reid addresses rumours of an American Pie sequel

Tara Reid addresses rumours of an American Pie sequel

The beloved franchise is approaching its 25th anniversary.

Back in the late 1990s; Tara Reid was Hollywood royalty, having landed several huge film roles from Josie and the Pussycats to The Big Lebowski and, of course American Pie – all before her 25th birthday.

Now, almost 25 years after the coming-of-age blockbuster hit our screens, Reid has finally addressed rumours of an American Pie sequel.

The actor has spent most of her adult life in the spotlight since finding success in her early twenties. Now, at the age of 47, she is finally ready to talk about how fame affected her at such a young age – and the future of the popular franchise.

Reid hit the big time after landing the role of Vicky, the quintessential 1990s girl next door in American Pie and its two subsequent sequels.

But with the 25th anniversary of the first instalment approaching, fans are eager to know if there will be a new instalment.

“There’s been so much talk about it for years and years,” Reid tells LADbible. “We would all love to do it, but it keeps coming back to you know, scheduling or so many people in it, or storylines.”

But there’s no doubting her commitment, as Reid jokes she’s up for taking part even if the cast are “old grandpas and grandmas in wheelchairs”.

“I mean we would absolutely definitely love to do them,” she adds. “That would be a lot of fun, you can see everyone how everyone has gone in different directions, and you know we are not in high school anymore, we are not kids anymore. It’d be cool to see a good reunion again and that could be down the line, there’s always hope that we might make that.”

Although fans may be waiting in anticipation for news of an American Pie reboot, Reid will be back on our screens soon as she guest stars in CBS’s Ghosts, set to air in the New Year.

It will mark 35 years since the New Jersey native landed her first film role, A Return To Salem’s Lot – but she says it was The Big Lebowski that changed the course of her career.

“I think there’s always a piece of you that’s attached to every movie you make. I would say the highlight of my career was really the movie that broke me out, and that would be Lebowski as that gave me the opportunity to get into the doors with American Pie and other projects,” she says.

But it wasn’t all plain sailing for Reid, as her career soon hit a wall when she acquired a reputation in Hollywood as a party girl who wasn’t afraid to break the rules.

“I think sometimes you are just misunderstood, you know, as many movies as I did, and everything I did, I was always professional,” she insists.

“I was never really late on set. I never did anything wrong. But when you have your time off, just like all of us you like to have a good time.

“I think people cross that over a little bit, and that affected me and my work at least. Now they realise, okay, she’s not 25 anymore. We can’t judge her from American Pie anymore. She’s 47. Let her grow up.”

Reid adds: “So I think it took time for that to finally go over which, you know, I understand it. But now it’s working, you know. I guess the best things in life are the ones that you have to wait for. My life, my career, my love and everything’s fitting together.

“Like, you know a tree doesn’t grow in a day, you know, it takes time. It takes time. But never forget your dreams.

“I really feel it’s going to be a good year for us. It’s going to be an amazing year. I’m still fighting.”
