The Rig is an upcoming television thriller starring Line Of Duty's Martin Compston. The six part series was filmed entirely in Scotland and is set, as the title suggests, on an oil rig. The series is an Amazon original and will be released on Prime Video.

The Rig Plot:

We already know a little about the plot for the bleak thriller.

'The Rig' centres around The Kilnoch Bravo oil rig, stationed in the North Sea, and it's due to return to land.

However, a fog descends and all communication with the rest of the world is cut off.

Stuck on the rig, the crew have to come to terms with their isolation and have to endure this extended period of exclusion from the outside world.

It’s not just each others’ company that erodes the patience of those on the rig, they must come to terms with forces beyond their control and beyond their wildest imagination.

So, anyone into tense and exciting dramas, 'The Rig' is definitely for you!

The Rig Cast:

The Rig has an array of well known stars in its cast. Emily Hampshire takes on the role of an oil company representative. Hampshire is a Canadian actress who has featured in a number of films including; Boy Meets Girl, Snow Cake and The Trotsky. Hampshire also featured in CBC comedy series Schitt’s Creek.

Iain Glen plays the leader of the oil rig crew. Glen has featured in two of this century’s biggest television shows, Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones.

He is currently starring in a HBO superhero series, Titans, based on DC comics.

Martin Compston, who has acquired widespread fame and recognition for playing AC-12’s DI Steve Arnott in BBC series Line of Duty, will star in the show.

Line of Duty was named the UK’s most watched television series of the 21st century and its series six finale amassed a staggering 15.24 million viewers.

Compston has already taken to twitter to address the role he’ll play in The Rig and everyone involved in the show will undoubtedly be hoping the Scottish actor brings some Line of Duty viewers to it

The Rig Release Date:

The Rig is scheduled to be released in Autumn of 2022 but an exact release date has not yet been announced.
