Director Todd Phillips reveals filming has officially wrapped for Joker: Folie à Deux

Filming has officially wrapped for Joker: Folie à Deux.

This means we are one step closer to feasting our eyes and ears on the highly-anticipated sequel.

But don't hold your breath.

The followup isn't expected to drop until October 4 next year, however at least we know they have finished filming all the scenes they need to wow us once again.

Director Todd Phillips has posted two photos of Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix as Harley Quinn and Arthur Fleck/Joker.

He wrote alongside the incredible pictures: "That’s a wrap. Thanks to these two (+ the entire cast) and the BEST crew that the film industry has to offer.

"From top to bottom. Gonna crawl into a cave now (edit room) and put it all together."

People went wild when they saw the images as it looks like Gaga will be a very convincing co-star to Phoenix's established character.

One person wrote: "THE EXCITEMENT I HAVE FOR THIS."

Another added: "Time is flying by too f**king fast. I’m so excited."

The sequel has been shooting a lot in New York City and many fans have been able to catch a glimpse of some of the scenes.

Gaga has been captured walking up and down those iconic Joker steps and singing, which lends itself to rumours that Folie à Deux will be a musical.

They've kept the rest of the plot a secret, however it hasn't stopped fans from guessing how they will weave in Quinn's storyline with Joker's.

Some have leapt onto the film's name. Folie à Deux means 'the shared madness of two'.

Considering Quinn starts off as a clinical psychologist who is assigned to treat Fleck inside Arkham Asylum before running off with the supervillain, it looks like their complicated romance will form a large part of the film.

Or, it could be something entirely different.
