Love is well and truly in the air this week as we have welcomed Love Island back to our screens with open arms.

It's been a long drought for the reality TV obsessed among us, and there's no doubt the sight of Laura Whitmore introducing a whole new cast of perma-tanned wannabes in search of love and spon-con deals was a sight for sore eyes.

Love Island fanatics should be delighted to learn then that not only is their magnus opus back for 6 glorious weeks of romance and drama but it's also come to light this week that RTÉ are readying a brand new dating show that will take place right here in Ireland.

Whilst Love Island has been all about finding love for British and Irish civilians since its 2015 reboot (anyone else remember the glory days of Celebrity Love Island with the likes of Fran Cosgrave, Abi Titmuss and Paul Danan?), this mystery new Irish dating show is said to have a celebrity twist.

The basic premise of the show will see contestants compete for a chance to win a date with their ultimate celebrity crush - perhaps it's some sort of Love Island meets Celebs Go Dating hybrid? Or even better, maybe the show will use a Blind Date mechanic to match up celebrities with their admirers from the general public.

The show is being produced by Alleycats TV and is set to air on RTÉ 2. The casting process is currently underway with producers specifically seeking Dubliners who are aged 18 to 40 years old.

Once they've settled on their cast of lovelorn Dubs, the show will be filming in locations all around the country this summer.
