Fans of the gripping ITV crime drama tuned in for the last episode of the series on Sunday 27th February.

Trigger point viewers are “still in shock” over the season finale twist. 

Fans of the gripping ITV crime drama tuned in for the last episode of the series on Sunday 27th February and took to Twitter to share their surprise at the events that explosives officer Lana Washington (Vicky McClure) experienced in the final instalment.

After fans endured six weeks of questioning, the season finale finally revealed who the perpetrator was behind the awful coordinated terror attacks

Initially, the officer had to deal with a bomb scare in Westhaven council estate after having to deal with the loss of both her best friend Joel Nutkins (Adrian Lester) and brother Billy (Ewan Mitchell) who died in targeted attacks by a far-right extremist group.

In a shocking turn of events in the last episode, it was revealed to be none other than Karl Maguire (Warren Brown).

Home-viewers took to the social media platform to share their thoughts on the season finale - and fans just couldn’t get enough. 

One viewer wrote about the show: “I mean I’m still in shock it was Karl, I’m not going to lie. I’m sad he was took oot the game he was too beautiful to die but needs must [sic],” they quipped.

Alicia praised actor Vicky for her stellar performance in the series, writing: “No words to describe the ending of Trigger Point other than heartbreaking.. just..insane!! Someone give @Vicky_McClure a BAFTA now for such an incredible performance! Now to rewatch because I just want more [sic]”. 

“Trigger Point, what a great series. What a twist at the end. I think that caught everyone out,” Lyn wrote.

Chris said of the “gripping” finale: “What an absolutely unbelievable twist in Trigger point last night, I don’t think anyone would have ever guessed it was Karl #Gripping”. 

“Nice ending to #TriggerPoint,” said another viewer.

Season two of Trigger Point returns to ITV in 2023, the channel recently announced.
