Borat Has Joined TikTok And Made Covid-19 Face Mask Announcement
| Last updated
In the 'very important message for combat of corovaginus', the Sacha Baron Cohen character says: "Jagshemash, public announcements. There's new plague, it originate from Wuhan, in Israel.
"Wear mask at all times."
True to his advice, he can be seen donning a mask - though he's wearing it as a man-kini, naturally.
Borat has also joined the world of Twitter, amassing more than 118,000 followers in just a few days.
Thus far, his output has been primarily comprised of Donald Trump mockery, as you can see:
The sudden emergence of Borat on social media coincides with the release of Borat 2, which is out on Amazon Prime on 23 October.
As usual, Cohen landed himself in some very hairy predicaments making the film, and said he was lucky to come out of a particular stunt in one piece.
In an article for Time, he wrote: "While filming my latest Borat film, I showed up as a right-wing singer at a gun-rights rally in Washington State.
"When organisers finally stormed the stage, I rushed to a nearby get-away vehicle. An angry crowd blocked our way and started pounding on the vehicle with their fists. Under my overalls, I was wearing a bulletproof vest, but it felt inadequate with some people outside toting semi-automatic weapons.
"When someone ripped open the door to drag me out, I used my entire body weight to pull the door back shut until our vehicle manoeuvred free.
"I was fortunate to make it out in one piece."
I suppose it boils down to balancing risk and reward. Fortunately for us, Cohen bears the great risk, so that we may enjoy the great reward.
Roll on 23 October.
