The creator of cult cartoon series Courage the Cowardly Dog has said a prequel is in the works with Cartoon Network.
The original series premiered in November 1999, and ran for three years and four seasons until November 2002.
Revolving around the titular anthropomorphic dog who lives with an elderly couple in 'the middle of Nowhere', the series became well-loved for its surreal, dark humour.

Despite being cancelled in the early 2000s, the show lived on through reruns on the Cartoon Network - eventually becoming the longest re-running original show on the network.
In an interview with Tiger Media Network - the media hub for Fort Hays State University - creator John R Dilworth was asked if there were any plans to potentially revive Courage.
He said: "We are developing something - a prequel - with Cartoon Network, but we don't know where it's going, how it's developing."

Dilworth was keen to stress that simply due to the nature of such projects, he didn't want to get his hopes up, and that things were very much still in development.
He continued: "I mean, it's a proprietary thing, so all I can say is that we're very, very excited.
"But to put it into perspective, I have four times been on the altar waiting for the bride, and she never showed up.
"So, even when everything looks beautiful and you've done everything perfectly, there's things beyond your control. Many, many great shows never get produced."

In the meantime, however, at least you can get a cartoon fix with some more Rick and Morty, with season four airing on Channel 4 in January 2020.
Split over two parts, consisting of five episodes in each, the fourth season will air on Channel 4, with repeats on E4 and episodes will be available to stream on All 4. The new season will also be available for US viewers on Adult Swim from 10 November.
While we've had a bit of a wait between the third and fourth seasons, creator Dan Harmon has promised this won't be the case moving forward.

He told Entertainment Weekly: "I think it's safe to say without fear of being wrong that the gap between seasons 3 and 4 will be the longest and last time that it's ever so long that it's ridiculous.
"I don't know how fast we can do it, but I know it will never be this long again. There were so many things that had to be settled before we even started season 4, and it's really safe to say - as Justin says - we're literally writing season 5 while finishing season 4 just to force ourselves to commit to a certain schedule."
