Thanks to lockdown we're all spending a lot more quality time with our TVs and binge watching to save lives. If you're all caught up with your usual shows, new Netflix series Outer Banks might be your next new favourite. Watch the trailer here:
The show centres on 17-year-old John B (played by Chase Stokes) who lives on the titular Outer Banks, an island chain in North Carolina - and his group of friends, the Pogues.
John B enlists the help of his pals JJ (Rudy Pankow), Kiara (Madison Bailey) and Pope (Jonathan Daviss) to help him search for a legendary multi-million-dollar treasure that he reckons is linked to his dad's disappearance.
An official synopsis reads: "Outer Banks is a coming of age story that follows a tight-knit group of local teens (the Pogues) in the beach vacation destination of the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
"When a hurricane kills the power for the summer season, it sets off a chain of illicit events that force the friends to make life-altering decisions.
"The search for their ringleader's missing father, forbidden romances, a high-stakes treasure hunt, and the escalating conflict between the Pogues and their rivals turn their summer into one filled with mystery and adventure they'll never forget."
The show's beautiful setting gives viewers a bit of lockdown escapism, as we follow the Pogues on their mission to track down the buried treasure and find themselves wrapped up a murder mystery. Sounds good, eh?
Despite being released less than a fortnight ago, viewers have already binged their way through it and are now calling on Netflix to make a second season.
One happy viewer wrote: "I've just finished Outer Banks and it is the best show I've seen in my 21 years of life and I need a season two now!"
A second person joked: "How dare Netflix not have the second season of Outer Banks ready to release for me to watch after bingeing the first season in one day."
While a third warned: "Never mind. Do not watch Outer Banks. You will watch the whole season in one night, and you will panic about it at 4.30am because this shit is f***ed up."
As yet, Netflix hasn't confirmed a second season, but star Madelyn Cline (who plays Sarah) seems like she would definitely be on board.
She told Glamour: "I'm really interested to see where the Pogues go after this. Do they stick together? Do they disband?"
Outer Banks season one is streaming right now on Netflix. Enjoy.
