First Dates Hotel Viewers Stunned By 'Unexpected' Plot Twist

"That was a better twist than the ending of Line of Duty series 4!"

Last night's (7 May) episode of First Dates Hotel took a very unexpected turn when two female guests ditched their dates for each other - only for one of them to end up with the other's bloke.

Not confusing at all, right?

Basically, the love quadrangle all began with Georgia and Rachael, who arrived at the hotel in last week's episode, when it was revealed the two not only knew each other, but that there was also a mutual attraction.

But the two women, who are both bisexual, weren't paired up with each other. Instead, Georgia went on a date with Robbie, while Rachael went on one with Blain.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, by the end of their dates, both Georgia and Rachael decided their respective suitors weren't for them, and concluded that they would prefer one another.

Speaking about her time with Robbie, Georgia admitted: "He was lovely, he was really confident and really flattering towards me.

"But if I had the choice between spending my evening with Robbie or Rachael, I'd say Rachael, definitely."

The outcome of Rachael's date was the same.

"In this situation if it was Blain or Georgia, it's Georgia," Rachael said to the camera.

The two then spent the rest of their stay at the hotel together, leading viewers to believe that romance was well and truly blossoming.

In fact, in an update at the end of the episode, it was revealed that Georgia and Rachael had been spending even more time together. So that's the happy ending, right?

Well, no.

Another update from Blain (remember him?!) showed he's now with Georgia - not the one he went on a date with in the first place, but the other one.

If it helps, the show's production team couldn't keep up, either, with text appearing on screen that read: "We stopped trying to keep up at this point."

While some viewers were left scratching their heads, those that had managed to make sense of it all were thoroughly impressed with the plot twist, with one person even saying it was 'better than the ending of Line of Duty series 4'.

Someone else tweeted: "Hold up! Blain and Georgia? That was the plot twist I don't think any of us saw coming! #firstdateshotel."

Another added: "Omg that ending!! Didn't expect that AT ALL!! #FirstDatesHotel."
