Friends Will No Longer Be On US Netflix From January 2020

No-one told you life was gonna be this way...

If you're a big fan of the show Friends, and statistically you probably are, you'd better hurry up if you want to watch the show on Netflix in the USA, because as of January 1 2020, it's no longer going to be available.

Yep, Joey, Rachel, Phoebe, Monica, Ross, and Chandler will bid a fond farewell to the world's largest streaming platform as the new year begins and head for their new home on Warner's new service, HBO Max.

It'll be available on there in May, so you've got a five month gap to fill with whatever else it is that people do.

This isn't exactly a new idea. In fact, Netflix actually shared the news earlier this year, this is just a reminder that time is now running really short if you want to grab a few more episodes for the road.

Warner Bros.

In July, they tweeted: "We're sorry to see Friends go to WarnerMedia's streaming service [which we now know is HBO Max] at the beginning of 2020 (in the US),

"Thanks for the memories, gang."

This last year hasn't been cheap for Netflix, either. If the reports are to be believed, Netflix forked over $100m (£80m) back in December 2018 in order to secure the show for 2019.

Now, that period has elapsed. You'll have to subscribe to HBO Max if you want to catch up with the Central Perk gang.

If you want to subscribe to HBO Max, you'll get a whole heap of other shows that are made by HBO - which means Game of Thrones, by the way - as well as content from other popular networks such as Warner Bros, CNN, TBS, and DC Entertainment.

So, as well as Friends, every single episode of Pretty Little Liars, and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, will be available on HBO Max.

However, if you simply can't last the five months without friends, there are ways that you can watch it between now and then, but they're somewhat extreme.

For example, Amazon, iTunes, and YouTube currently allow for the entire 10 series' to be watched, but it's gonna cost you.

The whole lot is available to buy on iTunes for $140, whereas you can buy the physical copies on Amazon for about $70.

YouTube will let you buy each season for $19.99 or $200 for all 10.

Or, you could just find something else to watch until HBO Max comes out. You decide.
