Santa's been, breakfast has been eaten, Christmas dinner is on the go - the only thing left is the Gavin & Stacey Christmas Special and apparently it's the 'best episode ever'.

At 8:30 sharp tonight (25 December for anyone that needs it spelling out) we'll get our long-awaited fix of favourites such as uncle Bryn, Mick, Pam and Gwen. Oh how we've waited for this day to arrive.

What we can gather from the trailer, the two families are together once again to celebrate the festivities. Starting at Pam and Mick's pad, Smithy is the first to grace our screens when Gavlar answers the door before the pair start to perform a rendition of Elton John's 'Step Into Christmas'. Joined quickly by Gavin's parents - obviously.

The rest of the minute-long trailer shows Smithy's iconic blue Volvo pulling up outside Gwen's place in good old Barry. Of course, Nessa makes an appearance and, arguably the one we were all waiting for - Uncle Bryn.

One person took to Twitter, saying: "Can't wait, and maybe we will get some closure of that fishing trip.."

Speaking of which, Joanna Page (who plays Stacey), hinted that we might actually find out what happens on Bryn and Jason's mysterious fishing foray.

The trip has become a long-running joke throughout the programme, regularly referenced in hushed tones by the uncle and his nephew.

Page has promised us 'a little conversation about the fishing trip' in the Christmas Day special.

Page, who will reprise her role as Stacey, appeared on This Morning today to chat about the reunion and was asked by host Ruth Langsford: "Will we find out what happened on the fishing trip?"

Initially not giving much away, Page replied: "Well... you'll just have to wait and see but there's lots of old things and lots of exciting new things as well."

She continued: "It's sort of like everything you wanted and you love about it and lots of new and interesting things as well. But I'd tune in because there might just be a little conversation about the fishing trip."

Only a few hours to go.
