ITV has unveiled a brand new Chaser on quiz show The Chase, having debuted newcomer Darragh Ennis on today's show.

Ennis joins fellow Chasers Mark 'The Beast' Labbett, Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty, Jenny 'The Vixen' Ryan, Shaun 'The Dark Destroyer' Wallace and Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha on the game show.

Fans of the show may recognise him from another episode from 2017, in which Ennis featured as a contestant.

According to The Express, he won £9,000 in total during the money building round, but his fellow contestants decided to accept lower offers from The Chaser, taking home £1,575 each.

As Ennis walked out to make his first appearance as a Chaser, host Bradley Walsh said: "Ooh, no, no, no! Not Shaun, not The Sinnerman, not The Vixen, not The Beast or The Governess - it's our brand new Chaser.

"Ah, the Dublin Dynamo all the way from the Emerald Isle, it's Darragh Ennis. D-Ennis the menace!"

Addressing his contestant, Ennis said: "Welcome Clint! Very nice to see you. I'll always remember you as the first contestant I ever faced - and the first one I ever caught, as well."

Speaking about his previous stint on the show, he continued: "I'm the only one who knows what it's like to be down there, and how intimidating it really is."

Ennis added: "It's much nicer up here - the seats are more comfy!"

As he made his first appearance as an official Chaser today, many viewers congratulated him on his new role.

One person wrote on Twitter: "Congrats on your first appearance as a Chaser. Can't wait to see what you bring to the show."

Someone else said: "You've settled in very well. It's like you've always been there."

A third added: "Congrats mate, hope you win!!"

His co-star Labett also tweeted: "At bloody last. Release the menace!"

Ennis tweeted earlier this year to announce he'd be joining the series, though up until now we'd not heard anything officially.

He wrote: "I'm really excited to be the 6th chaser on #TheChase.

"I've been working hard on this for a while now and can't wait for my episodes to air. Well, the ones I win anyway."
