Mum Throws £23,000 Party For Seven Year Old Son's Birthday

A mum says she has no regrets after spending a whopping $31,000 (£23,000) on her son's seventh birthday party.

Erin appeared on TLC's Outrageous Kids Parties where she shared details of her no-expense-spared shindig for her son Alex.

The mum decided on a pirate-themed bash for the youngster, but unfortunately forgot to talk through the details with Alex's step-mum Susan who wanted a disco-theme.

In the end they decided for a weird mash up between the two - yep, a pirate disco theme, complete with giant treasure cake decorated with disco balls and the no nukes symbol. Not sure what Jack Sparrow would say, to be honest.

The unusual cake cost an eye-watering $2,600 (£1,880), with mum Erin commenting: "For $2,600 (£1,880) it's like eating the best Gucci handbag." Sounds delicious.

As well as what is surely the most expensive pirate-disco themed cake in existence, Erin also splashed out $3,300 (£2,390) on 'the biggest pirate prop in Utah' - a massive pirate ship.

Can't have a pirate party without a pirate ship, I guess.

At one point, Alex's dad Kevin tries to talk the two women into scaling back the party but he's met with short shrift, with Erin saying: "I will not disappoint my son."

As well as the cake, an additional $3,500 (£2,530) is spent on scran for the party and $450 (£325) on fire spinners.

They also fork out for a giant treasure chest to hide Alex's birthday present - a mini scooter - inside.

Despite some concerns over the weather, the party goes ahead as planned as is a roaring success.

A delighted Erin tells the camera: "The party was just amazing. We had fire spinners, music, pirate food, it all looked so beautiful.

"It was the greatest time he had so much fun he loves playing with his dad."

While Susan added: "It was awesome it was Alexander's moment to shine."

An extremely chuffed Alex says: "That was the best party ever."

While, his granddad hints at bigger celebrations to come, adding: "Nothing's too good for a seven-year-old birthday party - wait till you're 16."

Best luck of planning that, guys.
