Netflix viewers reckon new 'documentary-drama hybrid' The Social Dilemma is like a 'real-life horror movie'. You can watch the trailer here:

Since dropping on the streaming service on Wednesday, disturbed viewers have said it made them want to get rid of their phones and their social media accounts.

The docudrama looks into the harmful effects of social media, focusing particularly on its impact on privacy, mental health and the spread of misinformation.

A synopsis reads: "This documentary-drama hybrid explores the dangerous human impact of social networking, with tech experts sounding the alarm on their own creations."

But as Mark Twain once said, 'truth is stranger than fiction', and viewers of The Social Dilemma said it felt like they had watched a horror movie, not a documentary:
