The brand-new Monsters Inc. series - titled Monsters At Work - lands on Disney+ next month. Check out the trailer here:

The new series picks up six months after the original movie from 2001, and centres of the inner workings of Monsters Inc. - particularly those in the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team, otherwise known as MIFT.

As fans of the Monsters Inc. will remember, the movie ended with the company switching over from scaring kids to collect their screams to making them laugh instead.

In the new show, it seems this has some big consequences for new recruit Tylor Tuskmon, who had recently been hired as a Scarer only to be left with his dreams in tatters.

An official synopsis for the series reads: "Tylor Tuskmon graduates top of his class from Monsters University and arrives at Monsters Incorporated to begin his dream job as a Scarer... or not.

"The day he's set to begin, he learns that they don't want Scarers... they want Jokesters! Tylor is temporarily reassigned to the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team.

"This change shatters Tylor's plan, but he sets his sights on a new goal: becoming a Jokester."

Ben Feldmen will voice Tyon, alongside other newcomers including Henry Winkler and Miny Kaling, while stars of the original flicks, including Billy Crystal (who played Mike Wazowski) and John Goodman (who voiced Sulley), will be back.

The eagerly anticipated spin-off series was announced back in 2019 and was originally set to be released on 2 July, however this date has been pushed back slightly to 7 July.

It's fair to say fans of the franchise are looking forward to it.

Posting on Twitter, one person said: "'I'm too old to be excited for this, alas here I am. Anticipating this more than a Marvel movie."

Another fan posted: "Wait wait wait WAIT!

"You're telling me that they are bringing my favourite movie back - WITH THE ORIGINAL CAST of John Goodman and @BillyCrystal - and they ADDED @hwinkler4real @mindykaling and @BenMFeldman??

"You have no idea how happy this makes me. Laugh Floor here I come."

A third wrote: "Wish we got a new movie but I'm excited for the series!"
