Tommy Shelby has been voted the greatest TV character of all time in a brand new poll by LADbible readers, which saw a whopping 400,000 of you casting your votes for the sake of your favourite on-screen icons.

After beating The Witcher's Geralt of Rivia, Shelby went up against Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty and came out victorious, having also batted off two young heroes - Arya Stark from Game of Thrones and Eleven from Stranger Things - in earlier heats.

While the likes of Tony Soprano from The Sopranos, Bojack Horseman, The Office's Michael Scott and Breaking Bad's Walter White didn't fare too badly, having come out on top in their respective first rounds, in the end they barely got a look in as the Shelby clan's leader was crowned the ultimate champ.

While many TV fans were more than pleased with the result, praising both the character and the show in the comments section, others weren't best pleased.

"Rick Sanchez was supposed to win," one lamented.

Another said: "Imagine thinking Tommy Shelby is a better character than Walter White, Tony Soprano and Michael Scott."

But while you may not agree, at the end of the day the people have spoken... So no f**king fighting!

Plus it wasn't long ago that you lot also voted Peaky Blinders your favourite show of the past decade, so I can't imagine too many of you are that surprised.

The epic BBC drama, which follows the Birmingham-based Shelby gang and their violent exploits, was named the best TV show of the last 10 years after a massive LADbible public poll at the end of 2019 saw it edge out critically-acclaimed US rival Breaking Bad by a handful of votes.

Game of Thrones finished third with 27.4 percent of the vote, followed by Sky and HBO's 2019 series Chernobyl.

And there's good news, as it looks like the sixth season of Peaky Blinders is well underway - with director Andrew Byrne having revealed the series is currently in pre-production.

Sharing a photograph of the production script for an episode that seems to be called 'Black Day', he wrote on social media: "We are in pre-production on Season 6. More to come. By Order of..."

Speaking to GQ about the forthcoming new instalment, Byrne divulged: "[Tommy] has to play a long game. He has to show patience and calm, when other people want to react. He's battling his own instincts and behaviour.

"That is the most dangerous thing. He wants to just kill Mosley, but he knows he can't. He has to fight him in a different way. Mosley brings out the very worst in Tommy Shelby. I think that's where Steven Knight's writing is so sophisticated. In order to fight Mosley, Tommy winds up having to fight himself."
