Star-studded murder mystery movie Knives Out has only just been released, but people are already saying it's the best film of the year.

The film, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, boasts a cast that includes the likes of Daniel Craig, Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Evans and more.

The official synopsis reads: "When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is mysteriously enlisted to investigate.

"From Harlan's dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan's untimely death."

The script follows in the footsteps of a classic murder mystery while playfully dropping timely jokes about Game of Thrones, Hamilton and dark-web incels.

The film is certainly not short of a few famous faces - but it seems like it's got more than enough substance to carry it, and people on Twitter seem to agree.

In fact, people have been raving about it - as you can see below:

One person wrote: "Knives Out was sooooo! Gooooood! Not only an instant classic murder mystery but also rooted in the current climate while simultaneously being a true comedy. 10/10 best movie of the year."

Another posted: "Saw Knives Out. Really enjoyed it. Wouldn't be surprised if it won a best original screenplay Oscar."

Someone else said: "Knives Out is an ode to murder mysteries of days past, with modern twists that keep you guessing. The cast delights and deliver some of the best performances of the year. If you're looking for a great time at the movies, then look no further. Just expect foul play. And knives."

Another, very precisely commented: "Knives Out: 9.4/10.

"Probably the best movie and best detective movie I've ever watched. Lots of humour, great story and perfect acting."

Another Twitter user wrote: "Rian Johnson is one of the best filmmakers out there. Knives Out is wonderful and it's clear everyone involved knows it."

The PG-13 rated film includes brief violence, some strong language, sexual references, and drug material - and although it was only released on 27 November, already has an 8.1 rating on IMDB with almost 15,000 votes.
