People Are Saying Spider-Man: No Way Home Is Marvel's Best Film Ever

There hasn't been this much hype for a superhero film since Avengers: Endgame

It's only been out for a couple of days, but people are already queuing up to label Spider-Man: No Way Home as the 'best Marvel movie ever'.

The hotly anticipated sequel was finally released on Wednesday (15 December) this week ahead of months of feverish speculation, smashing pre-pandemic box-office numbers and netting some of the highest-scoring reviews for a Marvel movie since Avengers: Endgame.

The movie picks up right after Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) framed Spider-Man for his murder and unmasked him as Peter Parker at the end of 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Facing a tide of negative press, Peter turns to Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and persuades him to cast a spell to make people forget he's Spider-Man - which ends up backfiring and dragging the likes of Alfred Molina's Doc Ock and Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin into the MCU.

One only needs to glance at the scores of jam-packed cinemas that populate hashtags such as #AMC and #SpiderManNoWayHome to see that not even the looming shadow of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 can put a dent in fans' eagerness for the film.

Don't believe the hype yet? Here's what one viewer had to say: "Spider-Man: No Way Home was so f***ing AMAZING. Growing up a diehard and the biggest Spider-Man fan, I am so f***ing happy right now. It delivered everything I ever wanted in a SM movie.

"That was the best Spider-Man movie, potentially the best Marvel and CBM ever...

"Perfect balance of story, drama, humour, nostalgia, and so much more.

"Hats off to everyone involved in this movie. I am so over the moon happy right now. Thank you, Marvel. I love superheroes. I love Spider-Man."

Meanwhile, movie critic Michael Patterson said: "Spider-Man: No Way Home is an emotional rollercoaster. There aren't enough adjectives to describe how much of an adventure it is, but 'a marvel' feels appropriate.

"One of the best Marvel movies ever made... and then some."

Another user wrote: "Spider-Man: No Way Home is one of the best marvel movies of all time! Truly an amazing and spectacular experience.

"Tom Holland absolutely killed it in the movie, easily his best performance as Spider-Man. This is an event film for the ages, the best superhero film of the year."

High praise indeed, and that's only a smattering of the many comments lining up to label this film a masterpiece of the genre.

Even Tom Holland thinks that this might be the best Spidey yet, saying in a recent interview: "I've loved every minute of it. I've been so grateful to Marvel and Sony for giving us the opportunity and keeping us on and allowing our characters to progress.

"It's been amazing."
