One of the winners from Channel 4's now axed show, The Circle, revealed that he gave a fellow contestant some of his winnings out of guilt.

Alex Hobern won the first series of the show - pretending to be his own girlfriend, Kate.

This meant catfishing fellow contestants including Dan Mosaku who had been flirting with 'Kate' via the social media platform throughout the series.

When it came to finally meeting, it didn't go down well with Dan that he had been duped and he even had to be removed from the situation to calm down.

After Dan found out he'd been played, Alex went on to win the series, as well as becoming the 'Viewers Champion'. He went away with a total of £75,000 (£50k for winning and £25k for the 'Viewers Champion' win).

He's now claimed that he actually gave Dan some of his winnings. Speaking to LADbible, Alex said: "I felt very guilty from the moment Dan and I sat down and for months afterwards. Particularly after I won both the prizes.

"I even ended up giving Dan some of the prize money due to the feeling that I had betrayed him in front of the nation.

"Dan was actually removed from the situation initially to allow him to calm down, leaving me stewing on my own in the room for a while. Then he was returned for the conversation that was aired. Very very awkward."

The moment Dan found out 'Kate' was actually Alex.

He went on to add: "At the time It didn't feel like anything helped the situation. Even with the addition of Sian and Freddie, the tension was still there and I just wanted the ground to swallow me up and get me the hell out of there."

After the show aired, Alex and Dan became friends and even started a podcast. They now keep in touch regularly and although Alex refused to comment on the cancellation of the show, he did say that it was an experience that he's 'not in a rush to relive'.

Since being on The Circle, Alex has opened up about the impact it had on his mental wellbeing. He's also used some of the money he won to build a brand aimed at increasing awareness and conversation around mental wellbeing, called Happy Dayz.
