The trailer takes us to Hawkins National Laboratory where we can see a bunch of youngsters playing, before 'Papa' enters and tells them - in a rather sinister way - that he has 'something planned for' them.

The camera then zooms into the door marked '11' and we hear a voice ask: "Eleven, are you listening?"

Before we see Eleven's eyes shoot open.

Naturally, the latest trailer has sent fans into a bit of a frenzy with one posting: "We are ready."

Another said: "'Eleven are you listening?' Literal goose bumps you guys."

While a third wrote: "If the fourth season is going to have to do something with Eleven's past, yes I'm all ears and I would love to listen to what's going on with that."

It feels like it's been a very long time since we've caught up with Mike, Will, Lucas, Dustin and Eleven, as filming of the latest instalment of the popular series was halted due to the pandemic.

Thankfully, production kicked off again earlier this year, but - as yet - we're still in the dark about a release date.

However, Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler, recently disappointed fans when he revealed that the show was most likely to hit Netflix 'some time next year'.

But whenever it eventually ends up on our screens, it seems viewers are in for a treat, with Joe Keery, who plays Steve Harrington in the show, claiming that the upcoming season is more sinister than any that have come before.

Speaking to Total Film, he said: "I think that this year - and I know I say this every single year - but this is definitely going to be a lot scarier than prior years, because last year was pretty dark."

He added: "Oh man, it's pretty amazing - the Duffer brothers have really done it again."

While in an interview with CBC Listen Wolfhard also promised a 'darker' instalment this time around.

He said: "Every season it gets darker. Really, I will say with Season 3 I was like, this is the darkest season that there'll ever be, like the exploding rats and everything.

"But really, season four so far, it's the darkest season there's ever been. Every year, it gets amped up. Every year it gets funnier and darker and sadder, and everything. Every year, they amp it up."

Exciting, eh?
