The BRIT Awards are upon us this evening (28 February) at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, with Jack Whitehall set to host.

But rewind the clock around 10 years, and it was Ant and Dec who hosted the famous awards show for two years in a row, in 2015 and 2016.

The comedy duo also presented the show in 2001, but after three stints as hosts, the Geordies have no intention of doing it again.

You'd think that the biggest names in presenting would be chuffed to have the opportunity to strut their stuff in front of some of the biggest celebrity names, but the pair have a good reason as to why they probably won't do it again.

During a candid moment on their Hanging Out podcast, they revealed that they decided 'never again' when it comes to the BRITs.

It's all to do with the behaviour of some of the big names, apparently, as Dec joked to Ant: "You not hosting it?"

He replied: "No I'm not, are you? Three times. Never again."

"I should never say never, because it's, a weird thing to host," Ant clarified in Thursday's episode, adding: "It's a fun night if you're nominated. It's a fun night, not necessarily, if you're hosting it, though, because everybody in the room just wants to get drunk and have a good time."

The I'm a Celeb presenter went on: "Yet you're trying to wrangle the whole crowd, and you're also trying to present the TV show, and also all the artists and bands who said they would happily do an interview with you before the show starts, always change their mind."

He recalled a time where he was promised an interview with Coldplay, only for them to pull out 10 minutes before they went live, as they didn't want to do an interview before performing.

Dec even joked that this was 'the beginning of Ant's beef with Chris Martin', which the latter quickly played down.

The pair did reminisce on some of their more memorable BRIT moments though, including when Madonna's cape got stuck and she tumbled down the stairs on live TV.

Sadly, Ant and Dec missed it, though they did open up on how nice it feels to finish presenting at the BRITs.

"One of the best feelings, though, is getting to the end of it. It feels like you've you've landed the show, you've landed that plane. It's been a bit of turbulence, but you've landed the plane," Dec said.

The pair even spoke about their nomination in 1994 for Best Newcomer, which they missed out on.

"Best Newcomer we were nominated for in 1994 and you won't even believe who won it, went on to win it," Dec began, saying: "You probably never heard of them again."

"They were a band from Manchester called Oasis," Ant joked, as Dec added:Yeah, they won Best Newcomer that year. I don't think they achieved much. They didn't do anything."
